The First Week of School!!

We had a great first week. It has been wonderful getting to know our new students. This week we have been sharing fun events from summer break, learning new classroom rules, practicing our handwriting and learning how to choose good-fit books. We have been very busy!

You may have noticed a calendar in the back of the student's folders. This calendar will also serve as a behavior chart. The students will be responsible for filling in their color for the day. Every day your child will start on green (looking good). The children then have the opportunity to move up or down on our chart. If your child is caught being on task, following directions quickly, being responsible or respectful, etc. the students may be moved to blue (wow!). If they are having an amazing day they may also move up to purple (superstar). If your child has need some reminders throughout the day you may see that they have moved down to yellow (oops! I made a mistake). This will serve as a warning. Orange and red are for continuous off task or disrespectful behavior. These colors will be marked on your child's folder but will also be accompanied by a note from their teacher or a phone call home. Please leave this calendar in your child's folder.

We will discuss our behavior chart, grading/attendance policies, homework and daily procedures in more detail at our parent meeting this Thursday at 5:45. We look forward to seeing your there!

If you have any questions you may call (528-3341), email or send a note to your child's teacher. Thank you!!

First Day of School: Play-doh writing
The students created an object out of play-doh and then wrote a sentence describing what they made. Check it out...
